Travel to school
Planning your school travel is easy. There are a range of safe transport options to get to our school. Check our location map, driving details and public transport options to help make the journey to school safe and easy.
Location map
We are located at 25 Hunter Street, NSW 2528 BARRACK HEIGHTS.
Use School Finder to confirm if you live in our local intake area.
Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school.
Catching a bus
The school bus stop is on Captain Cook Drive. Children who catch the bus home must meet with the teacher on duty near the COLA at 3.00pm. This teacher will escort and supervise the children until the afternoon bus arrives.
- Bus passes (Opal Cards) are free for school children.
- Parents must apply online for student travel via the Department of Education website. Students must reapply in Year 3 for a new pass. If your child loses his/her Opal Card then it is up to you to apply to the bus company for a new one. A charge will apply for this.
School crossings
Students must use the school crossings at all times when crossing the road.
For the safety of all Barrack Heights Public School students the white zebra crossing on Captain Cook Drive is supervised by the Roads and Maritime Services School Crossing Supervisor.
The Hunter Street crossing is marked by 2 orange ‘children crossing’ flags. Because this crossing is unsupervised, we expect all parents to take great care when crossing with their children and whilst driving their cars. It is a traffic offence to park across the bus zone, no parking zones and no stopping zones near these two crossings.
Random checks are made by the Roads and Maritime Services and Police to maintain safety for all our students. Infringement notices will be issued with no warning and no excuses will be accepted.
Apply for a travel pass
Eligible students can get a free travel pass under the School Student Transport Scheme. Apply for a travel pass today.
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
